Pietro Viero, master glass-worker, specialized in a particular manufacturing procedure called “a lume”, which he refined after several years of study and research. The method is based on melting different kinds of glass to give birth to creative forms and colours. The starting point is the glass cane, transparent or coloured, which is heated on a gas flame until it reaches a very high temperature. The compound is then manufactured by means of pliers and sticks and stabilised in the oven to get strenght and lucidity.
The founder of Myver, the atelier in Molvena where he currently works, started his experience in a famous master glass-workers studio, where he had the chance to learn the ancient venetian technique that he still uses nowedays to create his blown glass objects, personally performing each single step of the manufacturing process. These objects, at first sight so flimsy and breakable, are actually extremely good quality compared to ordinary glass. Infinite artistic expressions are possible, due to the combination of the various personalized choices.
